Wednesday, Nov 10th began the Superstition Explorer Hiking Series of mid-week hikes with a great turnout of hikers from all over the valley. All the hikers learned about the mid-week hikes from azstateparks.com and had an excellent first time hiking experience at the Lost Dutchman State Park hiking the challenging Siphon Draw, a 4 mile roundtrip hike, with an elevation change of 1020 ft. Visit the website often to see what mid-week hikes are offered at the park – there will be a hike for everyone! Pictured are hikers and volunteer hiking leaders.

Haley Anderson, who led the fundraising at Smith Jr. High School, is presenting the Friends Group of LDSP with a check. At first, it was thought it was to be for $300. It is now a total of $1,431.63. To top it off it was the large display sized check that took two of us to hold it. Haley, 12 years old, was the student who asked the school for help in saving the parks. The student Builders Club donated $1,000 of the $1,431.63. The Friends are planning something special for the students in October or November. Date to be decided. Thank you Hayley, students and also staff of Smith Junior High.

Fantastic!
